Victoria College Students Achieve Record Top-end Results

Senior staff were present to offer support and guidance as the students finalise important decisions about post-16 education and careers, as were many members of the teaching staff to celebrate the successes with the students.

We are delighted to report that our Year 11 cohort attained a positive value-added score above national benchmarks and placed within the top 25% of UK schools for student progress. The results also delivered the highest level of top-grade attainment in Victoria College's recorded history, with Grades 9 and 8 reaching a record high for formally sat and assessed examinations and accounting for almost a third of all grades awarded. In addition, around half of all grades achieved were at Grade 7 or above, representing the strongest performance in this band in five years. We also recorded a five-year high for Grades 9-6, which accounted for 71% of all results.

Headteacher, Dr Gareth Hughes, said:

"Behind every result lies hard work, perseverance and personal growth, and I am absolutely delighted to see this cohort rewarded for their efforts in these record-breaking results. While the overall outcomes are fantastic, what matters most is the progress made by individuals across the grade range and that their personal expectations have been exceeded in so many cases. I am immensely proud of this year group.

My sincere thanks go to my staff for their dedication and expertise, and to the students’ parents and families for the encouragement and support they have provided along the way.

I look forward to welcoming many of these students into our Sixth Form in September as they begin the next stage of their education. I would also like to wish every success to those pursuing alternative pathways next year and thank them for all they have contributed to the life of Victoria College."
